Mission
Black people are more than three times as likely to have an abortion in the United States, yet their stories often go untold. From writer Nadira Jamerson and photographer Arieanne Evans, NO REPRODUCTIVE JUSTICE, NO PEACE honors the nuanced experience of deciding to have an abortion and receiving abortion care as a Black person in America. Through in-depth interviews, photography, and other audio-visual elements, the project stands in gratitude for and solidarity with those who have had abortions, supported loved ones through abortions, and continue advocating for this life-saving care.
Both creators are among the millions of Black people who have had abortions in the U.S., and their personal experiences led them to confront widespread misconceptions. Over nine months of research and creation, they discovered that while every abortion story differs—with some describing physical and mental anguish and some experiencing pure joy—each story holds value, and community care and empathy remain paramount.
NO REPRODUCTIVE JUSTICE, NO PEACE is also a call to action to keep fighting for reproductive justice, because Black communities deserve it. A percentage of sales from artworks created for this project will be donated to support Black Women for Wellness, an organization that empowers women and builds healthy communities.
Thank you for your support.

With the opening line, “abortions are beautiful," NO REPRODUCTIVE JUSTICE, NO PEACE weaves together the voices of seven Black folks reflecting on their abortion experiences to uncover a truth that challenges conventional narratives and uplifts Black liberation and the sacred rights of autonomy and choice.
